CHARACTER: CANON SECTION
NAME: Larxene
AGE: Unspecified- early twenties?
CANON: Kingdom Hearts

CANON HISTORY: Wiki link! Note that the "between BBS and 358/2 Days" paragraph draws from one of the novels, which are of dubious canonicity.
CANON PERSONALITY:
Larxene is a nasty piece of work even among Nobodies, who are literally heartless and not so great at the whole "empathy" or "feeling normal human emotions" biz. Her idea of a good time means somebody else is probably having a very bad one; she gets her kicks from hurting others, emotionally and physically.

Much of the time, there's a thin glaze of sugar over the awful. Her default attitude is playful and giggly, almost childish. Around people she finds interesting, she's talkative and even flirty, with a marked disregard for others' personal space. (Flirting and deliberately making somebody uncomfortable are not mutually exclusive.) She has a penchant for drama in her words and expressions; on the rare occasion she isn't making sweeping hand gestures all over the place and sounding on the edge of laughter, things are about to go extremely downhill. Not much she does is subtle.

Her cheerful attitude doesn't do much of anything to make her less abrasive. Even in a good mood, her attitude towards people she dislikes (Sora, Vexen...) is laced with cloying condescension, and it's not uncommon for her to mock and troll others just for funsies. Impatient and easily provoked, she's quick to lash out with harsh words and seems to look forward to the chance to escalate to violence. She readily admits to enjoying inflicting pain, cheerfully describes herself as "a bad guy," and has no qualms about targeting those literally or figuratively smaller than her and then rubbing salt in the wound. Though she can restrain herself when she really needs to, she'd prefer not to; it's telling that she's the one whose co-conspirators feel it necessary to warn her not to "break her toys".
It's not unlikely she and Marluxia suspected Xemnas was lying to the Organization, though they would have come nowhere near figuring out he planned to use them as vessels. I didn't get the impression joining up was actually voluntary, but whether she had a choice in being recruited to Organization XIII or not, what she got wasn't what she signed up for. Going with the coup was more likely to work out in her favor than sticking with whatever the Superior was up to. But mainly it's probably down to ambition- like Marluxia, she wants power. They want to make the Organization work for them. If they had succeeded, it's not unlikely she would have eventually turned on Marluxia as well rather than settle for playing second fiddle to him. Blindly following orders isn't her style; strong-willed (exceptionally so, to have held on to her human form as a Nobody) and self-serving, Larxene wants her own way all the way. She's also a very sore loser.
So she has the ambition to match Marluxia, but also the manipulative smarts. Larxene is a master troll with a knack for reading people: she seems to know just which buttons she needs to push to demoralize or provoke someone or to lure them into a trap. She likes to go after weak spots, further harrying her prey with probing questions and cruel remarks aimed at hitting their insecurities or making them doubt themselves. Unfortunately, she's also careless with secrets and quick to jump to conclusions. It's her remark, having made the assumption that he was in on the plan, that gives Axel the evidence he needed to eliminate the traitors; even before that, she nearly lets it slip to Roxas a couple times, and she had barely met him at that point. (Given her low opinion of the poor kid, she may have figured telling him wouldn't matter.)

I keep talking in terms of feelings, but her being a Nobody complicates things since lacking a Heart (probably) means her emotional capacity is dulled if not gone completely. "That's funny, most of them don't act like emotionless robots," you ask? Their memories are intact, so they have plenty to draw on in judging what they would have felt in a given situation, or how to react appropriately. Effectively, most (humanoid) Nobodies are putting on a constant act, even to the point of even fooling themselves.
Because that wasn't ambiguous enough, Dream Drop Distance dropped the bombshell that Nobodies can develop new hearts on their own. Larxene being the second-newest Organization member (not counting Xion. It's complicated.), she probably didn't have enough time before she died, but I'd be remiss not to mention it.
Being a Nobody doesn't seem to bother Larxene much. Openly disdainful of friendship and loyalty, being able to connect on that level to others isn't a priority of hers. In side material, she admits she doesn't want her Heart back—this way is easier, because she can't get hurt. While that comes from a source of dubious canon status, it's very close to how I interpreted her to begin with. Powerful magic and not having to deal with the messy parts of having feelings? Sign her up. And yet Larxene is one of the more animated members, who unlike designated-comic-relief Demyx never really tones it down- even when the plan falls apart she doesn't get serious, she goes into a rage. For whatever reason, she doesn't drop the act, even to the very end. Which suggests that she's become the mask to a larger extent than most of them. The act is probably a lot closer to how she sees herself, controlled and emotionless not really being her style. It would have easily become natural to keep it up.

tl;dr: she came out here to attack people and she's honestly having such a good time right now
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
* Larxene's attribute is lightning. She can create and control thunderbolts and electricity, and absorb lightning-based attacks to heal herself. Some examples of how she uses it in game: calling down thunderbolts, setting up chain lightning between different parts of the arena, ball lightning, that one obnoxious move in the GBA version where she stuns Sora and pulls him towards her.
* She can levitate and teleport short distances (a few feet at a time, perhaps.) In-game, she uses this as part of special attacks.
* Using the Corridors of Darkness, she can also transport herself longer distances. Not recommended for unshielded people with Hearts. (Organization XIII's signature black coats protect the wearers from the corrupting darkness within the Corridors, though lacking Hearts, they don't strictly need protection.)
* When fought as a bonus boss- but not in the canon storyline- she can clone herself for some reason. I don't plan on taking this as a regain because I can't figure out what it has to do with the rest of her powers.
* Like all members of Organization XIII, she has a signature weapon she can summon and banish at will. Hers is a set of knives, Foudre, which she both throws and uses for claw-like slashing moves.
* Her fighting style is based around speed and acrobatics. She's strong enough to lift and throw an unconscious Riku Replica one-handed and send Sora flying with a single kick, though compared to the other Organization bosses she can't take a lot of hits.

CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Arlene Sinclair
AU AGE: 20
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: Other than not having anime antenna-hair, nope.
AU HISTORY:
* Born somewhere down South to a middle-class couple. Her dad's family is from there, with cousins in France; her mom's family is from Recollé. She still has a trace of an accent when she gets worked up, which she hates.
* An only child, her parents divorced when she was in fifth grade. To her dismay, upon getting custody her mom packed up and moved with her back to Recollé. Though Arlene visited her father regularly throughout her school years, she hasn't seen him in some time. His business travel keeps him busy, she's occupied with school, and nobody really wants to leave Recollé right now anyway...
* Her mother remarried when Arlene was a teenager, and their relationship has been somewhat rocky ever since. Though her mom and her stepfather care deeply, Arlene shut them out; she held a grudge for uprooting her and "replacing" her father that slowly turned into a bad habit. Her mom let a lot of this bad behavior slip when Arlene was a teenager, assuming she would outgrow it in time. Actually both sides of the family tended to be over-lenient, spoiling her out of guilt for putting her through their separation.
* Not coincidentally, that was around when she started building up a reputation as a bully. She was frustrated and angry about her home life, and because she is just a paragon of good coping skills, started taking it out on a couple of younger students. Embarrassing them made her feel bigger and more in control of her world, and so she kept on doing it.
* In high school, that behavior morphed into more of a classic "alpha bitch" persona- the gossipy, judgy, manipulative "popular" girl from every teen movie, surrounded by an ever-shifting clique. She liked being the center of attention and the power trip of pulling people's strings; the rewards were better than openly harassing other kids, and it was easier to avoid getting in trouble for it. That goes for consequences at home too: as far as her parents knew, she wasn't getting written up for bullying anymore and appeared to have a lot of friends, so she must be going in the right direction. Arlene certainly didn't tell them otherwise.
The downside was a lack of truly close friendships. Her social circles for years have been based more on the desire to be popular than having things in common. She knows something's missing, but she's so used to playing this role that she's a little scared to drop it- who will she have left if she does, and what if they hurt her feelings?
* But on the bright side, she also discovered a genuine interest in acting. The first audition was kind of a whim, and she nearly quit when she only got a minor role instead of the female lead, but the boy playing the hero was really cute so she stuck around to try and get his attention. By the time opening night rolled around, she was having a blast with it, and soon decided to take drama as her next elective. It really worked for her: she discovered a natural talent for acting, a new goal in someday becoming a movie star, and got to bask in the audience's admiration. By the time college application season came around, she already knew she wanted to major in theater.
* Her parents were less optimistic about her choice of major- there were more than a couple arguments at first about her career outlook. Each time only strengthened her resolve to become a star and show them. Still, her parents' savings are paying her tuition to RU. Mom drew the line at giving her spending money, though- she works as a barista somewhere near-ish to campus (not Expressive.)
* Her minor in French was a recent decision, one she's still waffling on a little. She first started learning it when she had to study a foreign language in high school; she chose French of the options there because it's "romantic" and because her dad's side of the family still has a couple cousins in France. She thinks it would be fun to travel someday, especially if she knows the language well enough to try for a role in a foreign production, and a minor in something she kind of liked and was studying anyway can't hurt her down the road. Her parents encouraged her, because they figure if the movies don't work out she can get a nice government job as a translator.
... Honestly, though, my reason for it as a player is because all her weapon names are in French so I wanted her to have a reason to know the language.
AU PERSONALITY:
What's different: Arlene has standards and a heart. She's still selfish and overdramatic with a mean streak, but the appeal isn't in hurting people, it's in jabbing at them to feel like she's in charge and cover up her soft spots (and, okay, because a lot of people are funny as hell when they're mad.) This also means she's more inclined to be passive-aggressive than aggressive-aggressive, especially if the latter would get her in trouble. Having a heart means normal human feelings--more than she knows what to do with sometimes, because being a young adult is hard. It means when her image isn't on the line, she's capable of genuinely liking and caring about people instead of being a dick 24/7. But she's pretty invested in seeming tough and untouchable, so she tries to cover that up.
What's the same: Still willful, ambitious and a sore loser, Arlene's spoiled upbringing and deliberately surrounding herself with admirers in high school hasn't done much to dissuade her from feeling like she's owed the world. She retains her former self's dramatic mannerisms, playful attitude and quick temper (even if the latter manifests less harshly,) talent for pushing people's buttons, and sheer stubbornness. She also loves to flirt, though now it's for its own sake rather than to troll people. And personal space still only applies when it's her own.

SAMPLE TDM with Ardyn. There's also Arlene being a passive-aggressive little shit with Weiss, though that one ended before hitting ten comments on each side.
